Kenedi and Kendal turn One!

This post will probably be mostly photos, but I wanted to give a little update on how the girls are doing, first.

On May 1, the girls turned one.  It was their golden birthday and since the color of childhood cancer awareness is gold, we had to throw a golden bash!  Which wouldn’t be complete without some hints of pink in there.  We had our close friends and family around us and really enjoyed their special day.

The day before their party, we had check-ups.  Both girls had their blood tested and everything looked good.  We met with their hem/onc team, their dietitian’s, their GI team and their OT.  All appointments went well.  So well, in fact, that Kendal got the approval to have her NG tube pulled!

At age one:

Kendal weighed 18 lbs 9oz was 26 inches tall.  Like I said, she is TUBE FREE and she crawls around everywhere.  Kendal is, and has always been, very vocal.  She lets you know what she wants and when she wants it.  Her demanding personality reminds us a lot of her big sister!!  She also began going to daycare at the beginning of the month.  She is thriving there and is learning new things from all the big kids.  Like how to stand up on her own.  She also loves eating real food with peanut butter toast being one of her favorites!

Kenedi was a tiny 16 lbs 3 oz and 25 inches tall.  She has learned how to transition from sitting to her belly and is still working on her eating skills.  She just recently began eating puffs on her own, when previously she would just shake her head no every time I tried to feed her.  I am so thankful for this sweet soul.  You can always find Kenedi smiling.  Her go-with-the-flow personality was the perfect addition to our family.

Although this is not the first year we imagined when the girls were born, they have shown us strength we didn’t know existed, especially in tiny babes. <3

We had their party at a local hotel in their conference room.  I loved decorating the space and it turned out better than I expected.  We had pizza for lunch and delicious cupcakes for dessert!
